« Notre histoire (se répète) » au théâtre de la Concorde
→ 08:10 PM
1 Avenue Gabriel - Paris
Our story (repeating itself) recounts the attempt by Jana and Stéphane – a German woman and a Sephardic Jew – to restage a play created in 2020. The play explored their romantic encounter and the challenges of their mixed-race relationship, marked by the upheavals of the 20th century, particularly the Holocaust. Today, geopolitical events, the rise of antisemitism, and post-truth have shattered their sense of direction.
This play is a plunge into the vertigo of our collective memories and our attempts at healing. It's a romantic farce about how current events impact a couple's intimacy and change our relationship to history.
Jana Klein and Stéphane Schoukroun explore the effects of disinformation, dogmatism, and selective memory—forms of blindness (voluntary or imposed) that permeate our societies as much as our relationships. This performance powerfully examines how the breakdown of dialogue weakens our shared bonds and fits perfectly within the theme of the month at the Théâtre de la Concorde: "Ignorance in Democracy."
