On June 20th, Bal Chavaux transforms into a hostile territory in the darkness of daylight. An evening tailored for the most alternative, and for those ready to discover the darkest and most liberating side of the dance floor.

Special guest: Light Asylum (US) live. From New York, Shannon Funchess crafts a scorching EBM sound, with possessive synths and an all-encompassing voice. On stage, it's an experience. Not a concert: a trance.

❯ Light Asylum [US]


Light Asylum is an electronic music project founded in Brooklyn, New York, by self-taught multidisciplinary artist, vocalist and producer Shannon Funchess.

Now based in Portland, Oregon, her music is deeply influenced by the 1980s and blends darkwave, synthpop and post-punk.

Funchess developed her powerful contralto voice singing in a Southern Baptist church choir during her childhood, before turning to influences such as Nina Simone, the Cocteau Twins, and Bauhaus. After a career as a guest vocalist with groups like TV on the Radio and !!!, she founded Light Asylum with multi-instrumentalist Bruno Coviello.

The duo released their first EP, In Tension, in 2010, followed by a self-titled album in 2012 which was met with numerous favorable reviews.

Known for her intense stage energy and extraordinary voice, Light Asylum evokes the power of Ian Curtis and Grace Jones.
