Living Smile Vidya is a heroine. The heroine of a life she has reinvented.

Born a boy in southern India, into the marginalized Dalit caste, here she is, decades later, a trans activist on European stages, her journey marked by hardship and courage. A true character, a vividly alive fictional figure, possessing a presence that is at once generous, funny, and audacious, she recounts her personal and political story by constantly engaging with the audience. She sings, dances, challenges, and plays with her body, costumes, image, and space in a kind of free-spirited musical. Through this performance, she also gives voice to those who, like her, cross borders to seek refuge elsewhere and lead a dignified life. Living Smile, in the truest sense of the word, is the name she proudly bears.
