On Wednesday, April 15, the lesbian film series returns for a second exceptional screening, with the collective film Valencia, The Movie/s (2013, 105 min.), an adaptation of the cult lesbian novel Valencia (2001), by Michelle Tea (@michelleteaz)
The screening will be followed by a discussion with ✨ Mommy Michelle HERSELF ✨, enhanced with some visual surprises.

We highly recommend that you (re-)read the novel, published by Hystériques & Associées in 2024, to prepare yourself for this evening full of lesbian drama.

Throughout the year, Norah Benarrosh Orsoni is in residence as a writer with the Transmission collective, where she continues her work on the little-known lesbian history of San Francisco since the 1980s, and programs a series of queer films made in San Francisco until December. The next event in the Ciné-Gouines series is on Wednesday, May 13th at the DOC.

💰 A pay-what-you-want box will be available at reception. Your generosity will allow us to finance the purchase of the film screening rights, and if all goes well, to produce the French subtitles for the film By Hook or by Crook (Harry Dodge & Silas Howard, 2001), the first trans bromance fiction on screen, which will be shown in September at the Écran cinema in Saint-Denis.
This programming was made possible thanks to the invaluable support of the Lesbians of General Interest (LIG) endowment fund and the Writers in Seine-Saint-Denis scheme, initiated by the department.
