Fête de la musique - Explain The Sound
On June 21, MansA-Maison des Mondes Africains extends the launch of the Explain The Sound podcast with an evening dedicated to the roots and reinventions of Afro-diasporic electronic music.
From house music born in Chicago clubs to Detroit techno, electronic music has been profoundly influenced by the creations, struggles, and imaginations of Black and queer communities. Yet, those who originated it are still too often absent from dominant narratives.
For this Fête de la Musique, MansA is putting these legacies in the spotlight and celebrating the artists who continue to shape these aesthetics around the world today. The program is designed as a space for transmission, discovery, and celebration, where different generations and visions of electronic music culture intersect.
On the agenda:
Steven Julien
Suzi Analogue
Melanin
Nexus (B4MBA + Mooki6)
Yasmin Regisford
An evening to listen differently, dance together and pay tribute to the stories that continue to make the heart of contemporary electronic music beat.
