Nuit Blanche 2026 à la Maison Populaire

Nuit Blanche 2026 à la Maison Populaire

Saturday, June 06
09:00 PM - 01:00 AM
Maison Populaire

As part of the curatorial program by Line Gigs and Fanny Testas “𝔸𝕞𝕚𝕥𝕚é𝕤 𝔸𝕞𝕠𝕦𝕣𝕤 𝔸𝕗𝕗𝕚𝕟𝕚𝕥é𝕤”, the curators wish to invite the following artists for Nuit Blanche 2026: Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens to the Maison Populaire.

After drawing on her experience as a sex worker and actress to create radical performances in the 1980s and 1990s, artist, performer, and activist Annie Sprinkle, along with her partner Beth Stephens—an artist and professor at the University of Santa Cruz—developed an ecofeminist theory they call ecosexuality. In 2008, they published the "Ecosex Manifesto" together.

Emerging in the early 2000s, ecosexuality is both an ecological and erotic practice that adopts a critical stance towards anthropocentrism—the worldview that places humans at the center of everything. It deconstructs norms of gender, sexuality, and nature by mobilizing pleasure, humor, and joy as political tools. In this approach, the Earth is no longer a "mother"—a figure traditionally associated with patriarchy—but a lover.
