Savoirs Pluriels – Féminités, masculinités : Qui a inventé le genre ?
Femininities, masculinities: Who invented gender?
For this second session of the "Plural Knowledge" conversation series, we are focusing on the issue of gender.
Does sex determine gender? Where do the differences between masculine and feminine come from?
Come and discuss with us what you mean by the terms "Masculinity" and "Femininity" and their influence on our daily lives.
We'll talk about it with __
Manon Palassy - journalist and filmmaker, specialist in the history and society of Réunion and current events in France's overseas territories
Dr. Sandeep Bakshi - lecturer at Paris Cité University in decolonial studies, gender and sexuality studies, and postcolonial literatures
Raeesha Lavande - European Mother of the Haus of Gabbana and representative of Vogue Women in France and abroad
About "Plural Knowledge"
This series, co-organized by the University Network of Plurality and the House of Conversation, explores the diversity of knowledge that permeates our lives: scientific, experiential, cultural or sensory knowledge.
In a changing world, where knowledge evolves and clashes, the challenge is to create spaces for dialogue between them, without hierarchizing them.
A project supported by two complementary structures
The House of Conversation is a living space in the 18th arrondissement of Paris which aims to bring citizens out of isolation, to move from strong ties, those of intimacy, to develop weak ties, those of openness, by bringing them together to meet and discuss, to create human social networks (but real ones, without screens), that is to say free spaces and times where encounters take place in openness and trust with people that one would not otherwise meet.
The University of Plurality Network (U+) is an international association, based in France, which experiments with creative and collective foresight mechanisms for the emergence of empowering, just and sustainable futures.
