What is sensual bachata? 🐍

Bachata is a dance that originated in the Dominican Republic, deeply rooted in a rich popular, social, and cultural history, before traveling and evolving through its international spread. In the early 2010s, in Spain, dancers Korke Escalona and Judith Cordero structured and named sensual bachata, proposing a pedagogical approach centered on musicality, body isolations, and fluidity of movement.

This workshop is entirely solo and offers in-depth work on styling, body isolations, undulations, and torso/pelvis coordination. You will work on fluidity of movement, posture, and quality of gesture to enrich your dance vocabulary.

Today, sensual bachata is danced all over the world, both in classes and at international festivals. It is particularly present in LGBTQIA+ bachata festivals in Europe!

On the agenda 🪩

Immerse yourself in the world of sensual Bachata through a structured workshop in two complementary modules, designed to develop both your technique and your connection.

The first module (11am-1pm), Corporeality & Bodymoov, will begin individually before progressing to couples. It will allow you to explore movement in depth, better understand your body, and refine your expressiveness. The goal: to gain ease, fluidity, and awareness, both for yourself and in your relationship with others.

The second module (3pm-5pm), Sensual Combination, will be entirely dedicated to partner work. Through various moves, approached like building blocks, you will learn to structure your dance, enrich your vocabulary, and create harmonious and natural sequences.

At 5pm, you are also invited to participate in a 1-hour social session to discuss almost freely everything you have learned during the day.
